2.500 wines from all over the world. 40 among the greatest wine experts in Asia. A week of tastings.
It’s the Decanter Asia Wine Awards, Asia’s leading wine competition. Decanter, the most famous wine magazine in the world, organizes it with the aim of providing wine lovers across Asia with a reliable source of information and recommendations.
Our Campania Aglianico 2012 was awarded in the 2014 edition.
This summer the fourth edition was held in Hong Kong and Agricola Bellaria competed again with its wines. Decanter appointed a panel of 40 among the most renowned wine connoisseurs in Asia, coming from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Korea, and Taiwan.
All wines are rigorously blind tasted and organized in flights to ensure the best tasting conditions: they are sorted by country, region, color, grape, style, and vintage. The judges taste wines individually, with knowledge of their region and style. They then compare notes and reach a consensus on each wine’s medal.
In August came the verdict: the jury, chaired by the great Steven Spurrier, chose our wines again to represent wine excellence for Asian enthusiasts and professionals.
Three bottles from Agricola Bellaria were awarded prizes!
Silver Medal for our Taurasi 2009, that seduced the judges with its magnificent fruity taste enhanced by liquorice, vanilla and chocolate notes.
Our Campania Aglianico replicated its success, and with the 2013 vintage it climbed up to a bronze medal.
And last but not least, an important award for the recent vintage, with our Fiano di Avellino 2014 being “Commended”.
What can we say.
The passion that drives our research for excellence is rooted in our land and tradition. Our wines are special and we know that. But seeing our work praised in the most prestigious international contests it’s always a great thrill.
